Nakuru rally winner Chager targets round two after resounding victory at Nakuru Rally.

Kabras Sugar Racing Team is leaving nothing to chance with just a few weeks to the second round of the Kenya National Rally Championship.

Baldev Chager, Tejveer Rai and Onkar Rai all from Kabras Sugar claimed the first, second and third positions respectively during the first round of the Kenya National Rally Championship (KNRC) held in Nakuru last weekend.

Chager raced for one hour and 39 minutes, Tej for one hour and 51 minutes while Onkar raced for one hour and 52 minutes.

Chager understands pretty well that time in the rally is of essence.

It is against this backdrop that Chager is targeting to race for lesser time than in the first round during next month’s second round.

“Our team is very vigilant with preparation of the cars, we have to make sure that they are in good condition and shape. It is very important,” said Chager.

He admitted that the contest was still far from over as two crucial rounds are pending and underscored the need to win the entire competition.

Chager intends to resume training in the next one week with focus on increasing the speed so as he can race for less time than in the first round.

Although Tejveer Rai and Onkar Rai, who claimed the second and third positions respectively in last weekend’s Nakuru are also for Kabras Sugar as Chager, the latter knows if he doesn’t work hard, he may be beaten.

“Onkar and Tejveer are my teammates but I will try as much as I can to ensure they remain behind me in our subsequent racing,” said Chager.

Tej attributed the sterling performance to hard work and regular practices. He exuded some confidence that Kabras Sugar Team will pose exemplary performance.

“It is my hobby and the passion for Kabras sugar brand, our team is focused and looking forward to the second round. I’ve no doubt that with early preparations we shall again produce good results,” said Tej

Chager suggested that there should have been a way Kenyans can follow the rally through their smartphones now that spectators are not allowed to lineup on roads and watch the contest because of Coronavirus.
